Hidcote is the lavender we recommend most often at the greenhouse. It forms a tidy, compact mound of silver-gray foliage and, in early summer, sends up dense spikes of deep violet-blue flowers that bees find almost immediately. Its small size makes it a natural for edging a path, lining a sunny border, or filling a large container by the front door. Plants are grown in a gritty, fast-draining mix so roots arrive healthy and ready to settle in. Plant it where it gets a full day of sun and the soil drains well, and it will reward you for years.
